Born and brought up in Swansea, Pete won first class honours in music at Liverpool University and went on to complete a Ph D thesis at the University of East Anglia.

Returning to Wales after his studies he worked extensively in community music, music theatre, and music therapy. As musical director to Indian Dance Wales he had the opportunity of working with many fine musicians and singers from south India.

In 2003 Peter wrote a Concerto for Bansuri for Hariprasad Chaurasia and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in response to a BBC Radio Three commission (the concerto was subsequently nominated for the British Composer Awards). In 2005 Peter completed a commission that brought together Radio One DJ, Bobby Friction, with Viva the Orchestra of the East Midlands. More recently he worked with one of India’s leading sitarists, Nishat Khan, on a concerto that was commissioned by Radio 3 and performed in the Proms in 2013.

A founder-member of the innovative Welsh folk group, Aberjaber, Pete has sustained his interested in traditional music, while continuing to explore world music, improvisation and jazz.
