Gwanwyn by Tŷhai (www.tyhai.com) The title track of our debut CD album "Gwanwyn". In this celebration of the coming of Spring, Raj has taken a traditional melody from The Ancient National Airs of Gwent and Morganwg as the basis for a song setting of a poem by the fourteenth-century poet, Dafydd Ap Gwilym. The explosive energy of spring is expressed in Rajesh’s melody which brings the piece to a close. When May comes in its green livery with ordination for the fresh leaves then green grows along the threads of the bush for him who owns it. Breakfast Cabaret For An Audience Of One by Tŷhai (www.tyhai.com) Breakfast Cabaret for an Audience of One is based on a piece of music that Pete Stacey created when his daughter was a baby and would rise very early in the morning. It evolved as a flute melody as she sat in the bouncy chair and Pete played the flute and drank tea. Rajesh has added a Hindi text from a poem by Mirabai (1498 -1557) which says: O mother, what should I do? The sound of the thunder and rain and the lightening frightens me. Knowing that I am alone, my beloved is testing me.
